Description

Update: I just realised I added this to loads of musical groups and it's not even the musical fan art. GADDAMMIT HEATHER, THIS IS WHY NO ONE LIKES YOU.

"I stole my happiness with you, I don't mind paying for it."
~ Les Miserables, 1998

JEAAAANNNNNNNYYYYYY ;__; WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

U MAKE ME OVERLOAD WITH DA FFFEEEEEELLLLSSSSSS.

(It's supposed to be Liam Neeson. Does it look like him?)

I LOVE the 1998 adaption. It's my favourite non-musical version. They just do everything perfectly. The casting? Perfect. The sets? Perfect. The costumes? Perfect. The conversations and interactions between the characters? Perfect. The June rebellion scenes? meh. PLUS, NO EPONINE. WHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. I suppose it makes sense because the Thenardier's live in Montfermeil (how do you spell that?) and then in the musical they just travel to Paris...? Ah well, it could make sense either way.
HAVING THE ILLITERATE VALJEAN MADE MY FEELS EXPLODE FOR HIM.
There is one scene where he's practicing writing and his tongue is sticking out like he's trying so hard and I just....DIED. JEANNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYY.
Plus, I ship Fantine and Valjean SO HARD now. They have dinner together and EVERYTHING NCKIVNWNVWNV And he says to Cosette when she's older "I loved her." and my older brother said: "No, he probably doesn't mean like that." but my fangirl levels just hit the roof and I was like "I ship it...I ship it...I SHIP IIIIIIIIIT!" (If you've watched the film, you'll get that quote. If not, press here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH-Iif… )
Geoffrey Rush as Javert. SUBLIIIIIIMMMEEEE. It's like Nutella and strawberries. IT JUST GOES.
Clare Danes? I loved her. My brother always says how ugly she is, but I think that's a bit harsh. I loved her acting and GUYS. SHE'S SO BAD ASS. SHE GRABS JAVERT'S GUN AND POINTS IT AT HIM. LIKE WHOA. COSETTE, CALM YOUR TITS.
Everyone else did well, very convincing.

Now, I must go to bed for I have work experience in the morning. What's that? I have to go to work for 5 days (without pay). I' going to a big book store (the fancy company is called Waterstones. It's my fave book shop). GUYS I'M SO SCARED. I'm scared because I hope I can go out for lunch b/c I can't eat in front of people I don't know and I can't speak to anyone HEELLLLPPPP. But they seem nice and said I could do a display and it's just going to be a Les Mis shrine. At least I don't have to go to school.
I'M ONLY 14. I DON'T WANNA GROW UP. I DON'T WANNA WORK. ;__;

i liked the 1998 adaptation.  Liam Neeson is probably my favorite Valjean and I still base Fantine's height on Uma Thurman.  I thought Claire Danes' Cosette was a perfect representation of her character in the book (she was even a brunette! You will never know how happy brunette Cosettes make me).  She felt modern and relatable, while still not sticking out like a sore thumb in the 1830s setting.  I was kinda bummed that there was no Eponine.  The story was just fine without her, but i feel that this adaptation could give us an Eponine creepy and ugly enough to do Victor Hugo's Eponine justice (Because I'm sick of seeing perfectly healthy-looking teenage girls whining about unrequited love when Eponine was intended to look and act a little more like Lon Chaney's Phantom of the Opera).

i also felt like it should have been a miniseries.  like if they split it up into three or five hour/hour and a half TV specials, it would have been perfect.
